About Steenstra Shipping
Steenstra shipping was founded in 1960 by dhr. H. Steenstra by the name of Rederij H. Steenstra B.V.
In this year and the years after dhr. H. Steenstra build a strong relationship with the Liege (Luik) Industry regarding shipments from their factories to the UK.
Dhr. H. Steenstra was capable of minimize the handling of their cargoes by means of loading in Liege and transport directly by ship by using the special waterway Albert Canal, passing Antwerp and sail off the Westerschelde towards the Northsea.
Over the years this was done to full satisfaction of all people involved.
When his sons grow up, they joined him during a few years, where they learn all critical aspects of sailing on inland waters, sailing at sea, and load and discharge cargoes under all circumstances.
Over the years the fleet expands with newbuild ships up to 3 ships. The current owners/brothers sailed as captain on the ships and therefore guaranteed quality and long-term vision for their own company.
During all these years until now, Steenstra Shipping respects Sunday as a day of rest and awareness to God, and therefore acts as a Non-Sunday trader.
All their effort results nowadays in a modern fleet of 3 sea-going ships. All unique in their kind and well equipped and manned to achieve a safe and sustainable way of shipping.
With fleet and office manned by Steenstra Family members, and Amasus as our chartering department, we provide a full service in short sea shipping.
